What Should a Pitch Deck Include for Indian Founders Raising from Global Investors?

How to structure, price, and present when your investor is in Minnesota and your business is in Gurgaon.

Your investor is in Minnesota. Your company is in Gurgaon. Your market might be India, the US, or both. The pitch deck that worked for a Bangalore angel round will not land the same way in a US VC inbox. Global investors evaluate Indian founders through a different lens — and your deck has to translate, not just translate languages.

What global investors need that local decks skip

  • Market context they can parse. Do not assume they know UPI penetration, GST implications, or why Gurgaon matters. One slide of crisp market framing beats ten slides of India macro they will Google later.
  • Currency and unit economics in USD. Even if you operate in rupees, show them the numbers in a currency they model in. State your assumptions.
  • Regulatory and structural clarity. How is the company incorporated? Can they invest? What structure are you proposing?
  • Global ambition, local proof. Why this team, in this market, can win — with evidence that does not require them to visit India to believe.

Structuring the deck for a US-style conversation

  1. Problem — specific, human, globally relatable even if the market is India-first.
  2. Solution — demo or prototype if possible. Global investors trust what they can see.
  3. Market — size with methodology stated, not a Statista screenshot.
  4. Business model — how you make money, unit economics, path to repeatability.
  5. Traction — what you have, honestly. If pre-revenue, see pitching without funding history.
  6. Team — why this team for this problem. Cross-border experience is a plus.
  7. Competition — real names, real differentiation. Not "no competitors."
  8. Ask — amount, use of funds, milestone it unlocks.

Presentation norms that differ

US investors often expect tighter decks (10–12 slides), faster pacing, and more time on the problem and team than on financial projections. Indian pitch culture sometimes front-loads vision and market size. Global rooms want you to earn the vision with specificity. Lead with the problem they can feel, then expand to the opportunity.

Brand and credibility at scale

When a Minnesota investor Googles your company at midnight, what do they find? A coherent website, a professional deck, and a LinkedIn presence that match each other — or a mismatch that raises questions? Brand identity that holds up at India scale matters here. See what brand identity costs and delivers when you are building for international rooms.

NFPL: technical seriousness in a global context

For NFPL, an engineering firm, the corporate profile needed to communicate technical seriousness without reading like a compliance document. That same discipline applies to pitch materials for global investors: proof of capability, selective evidence, language that respects the reader's time. Engineering founders especially tend to over-document — global investors want the argument, not the appendix.

Common mistakes Indian founders make with global decks

  • Oversized TAM slides with no bottom-up reasoning.
  • Ignoring time zones and meeting culture — send the deck before, not after, the call.
  • Assuming "India market" is one homogeneous opportunity.
  • Pitch deck that looks locally designed but claims global ambition — visual and narrative coherence matter.
  • Choosing the wrong document format — see pitch deck vs business plan.
